Will house price inflation beat 4% for September 2026?

Stats SA builds this index from every single property transfer registered at the Deeds Office, not estate agent estimates. It is the closest thing to a true national house price.

How this settles

This market resolves YES if the national annual percentage change in the Residential Property Price Index first published by Statistics South Africa for the reference month is 4.0% or higher. It resolves NO in every other case.

Settles from: Statistics South Africa Residential Property Price Index statistical release P0160 (https://www.statssa.gov.za/?page_id=1854&PPN=P0160). Closes 2026-12-15 11:00 SAST. Decided 2026-12-15 12:00 SAST. The index is compiled by Statistics South Africa from data supplied by the Office of the Chief Registrar of Deeds, covering registered transfers of residential property to private individuals. Only the first published figure is used; subsequent revisions do not affect settlement.

When this is cancelled instead

If any of the following happens, the question is voided and every stake goes back. It scores for nobody either way.

Statistics South Africa does not publish statistical release P0160 for the reference month within 90 calendar days of the scheduled release date; Statistics South Africa discontinues the Residential Property Price Index or rebases it such that no national annual percentage change is published for the reference month

Think this reads two ways? and we will tighten the wording or void it.
